The Institute
Our built environment is constructed, operated, and maintained to support the functioning of our society, in economic, social and environmental terms. The Institute of Construction and Infrastructure Management (IBI) has the general mission to equip our students to ensure that this happens, optimally. The fulfillment of this mission requires teaching the fundamentals of, and conducting research in, the general fields of construction engineering and infrastructure management.
Highlighting the significance of specific fields within these general fields, the institute is organized into the following four groups where each has a specific focus that will help improve the construction, operation and maintenance of our built environment:
- Innovative and Industrial Construction IC), focused on how new processes, organizations, and digital information flows can increase construction efficiency and productivity,
- Circular Engineering for Architecture (CEA) develops research on matching reused architectural materials & projects through digitalization for circularity.
- Sustainable Construction (SC), focused on economic, social and environmental consequences of human actions, and
- Infrastructure Management (IM), focused on decision making from general planning for entire networks to detailed planning for specific projects.
Head of IBI
Prof. Dr. Guillaume Habert is currently head of IBI.
